Typically a 3kW array will consist of between 12 and 16 solar PV panels. The number of panels required depends on roof size, direction of the roof and shading from neighbouring building and trees. The panels can be mounted on a pitched roof, a flat roof or even on the ground.

 

You would expect a 3kW array to provide between 45% and 60% of a typical family home's electricity requirement.
