Installation of solar photovoltaic panels carried out on an existing agricultural building, the barn was over 50 meters away from the dwelling so trenching and armoured cable was used. Allbrite were able to install 3.7kWp of solar PV panels which covered the whole of the barn roof. The client saw that it would be sensible to add a full electricity supply for lighting and minor electrical appliances, Allbrite installed this at the same time as the solar array. Due to the size of the array a Fronius IG40 inverter was used, the PV panels were split into two equal strings to ensure the voltage was suitable for the Fronius inverter. When the property was surveyed it was noted that additional strength to the roof area was required, Allbrite undertook all the work required to strengthen the roof, install the solar photovoltaic panels and the new electrical circuit to the barn. As part of the service 2 new light fittings and IP65 switches were installed into the barn along with 2 plug sockets. The Barn in Penyffordd, North Wales is south facing, however the roof slop is only 10 Degrees so efficiency will be lost compared to a standard pitched roof, calculations show the loss in efficiency will be insignificant and return on investment should be within the 10th year.
